I bought $META call debit spreads for earnings. In the morning I try to close them and its getting rejected because the short leg is so far in the money there is no volume and it shows up as a negative value in Robinhood. Just can't close the whole spread or it shows like $50 value for the spread. Usually what you do is just buy back the short Call leg yourself first and then sell the remaining long call separately. Problem, each option was like $9,000 now after that 10% $META jump I didn't have enough cash to buy short legs back. So now I gotta pray META doesn't give up the gains and the spreads expire in the money. I only trade SPY so there is never any problem with closing spreads so yea good lesson.
