USA Rare Earth is a U.S. mining and manufacturing company focused on rare earth elements (REE) and magnets. They hold the majority mining rights to the Round Top deposit in Texas, which includes neodymium (magnets: data center cooling, robotics, electronics), dysprosium (EV/Nuclear), and lithium (batteries). They are in the process of constructing a magnet manufacturing facility in Oklahoma, which is expected to begin commercialization in early 2026. Mining is also expected to be commercialized in 2026. In September 2025 they announced acquistion of UK Less Common Metals. They have obtained a producer of rare earth magnet alloys that is not sourced from China. So, Mine (TX) --> Refine (TX) --> Alloy (LCM/OK facility) --> Magnet facility (OK). This increases their capacity to create the alloys necessary for the magnet facility and opens up the market to other allies as LCM has prior customer relationships. In the near term, the stock has dropped due to a possible China-U.S. deal, but the U.S. and its allies will still focus on REEs to decrease dependency on China's supply control. The U.S. and its allies will continue to invest significantly in domestic REEs because if push comes to shove, we need our own supply to keep up in the AI and energy race. Position: 1500 shares @ 24.07 average. Sold 5x covered calls to slightly hedge the downturn due to news on a possible China-US deal. Sold 1x Cash secured put. You're probably saying why did you buy if it's gonna go down near term. I like the entry and think it's a decent entry for me to hold. I am just selling covered calls at a price I am fine selling it at if it rips from a funding deal/ better than expected news. tldr: Super near term the stock will be wobbly/down due to China-US talks/deal.
