Guys. Today, I took some profits ($4.5K) on my calls. Bought $5K worth of puts for Monday (QQQ and SPY). Did I do the right thing?

Go though my history and you will find this regard guessing the closing price of SPY correctly, had puts, and still lost money because I forgot about risk assignment 🫡 I belong here (-1k on a +20k potential trade).

Spy 700 by december

I bought SPY 285 calls for end of next week and 700s for the following Friday. Also bought 500 shares of UVXY to try and cover my ass (@ avg of 10.17, never seen it below $10 so figured it was a cheap hedge… If we gap up or pump again Monday I’ll just sell for minimal loss or just hold and continue to accumulate until the inevitable crash).

Sold GLD on Monday, profited from a solar stock earnings on Tuesday, made a 30-min quick-strike 10k gain on the stupid meme hype, then Wednesday went leveraged SPY and a big bite of HOOD and ENVX. Now I’m locked and loaded for early November earnings and probably a rate cut. Drinks on me this weekend.

Typically when spy breaks ath it runs for about a year We got until next fall which just so happens to line up with mid terms. Hmmm

Had SPY call options hit on 675, 676, 677 and 678. Came away up about 30% so I’m feeling pretty good. Still pissed about them damn 679s I bought. Can someone who‘s not regarded like me explain what kept it around 678.20 for basically the entire day? Seemed like no matter if it went up or down it stayed there until close.

Risked $115k on spy puts this morning to make $3k selling right at close. Not worth the money for the toll that took watching all day.
