I’m up 100% just this month on SLV. I sold Friday because it was a 10% day and locking in gains is something I personally like to do, not sure about you. But if you look at my other replies you’ll see that I am re entering a new position on the next fake out shake out. Just sharing the facts do with them what you will, all the best heading into 2026!

Close to what u/therpgrqd said. I have approx. 95% of my portfolio in SLV shares and use the other 5% of my portfolio to buy 3-5% otm puts with about 30 DTE. If SLV tanks 5% or 10%, then the puts appreciate enough to offset my losses in the shares. If it goes up 5% instead then I sell my puts and buy new ones that are 3-5% otm from the new higher price. I lose 1-2% on the put so it’s about a 3-4% net gain from a 5% up move. But I effectively lock in the gain going forward bc I’m still protecting myself from a big down move. As SLV rises I rinse and repeat. This lets me ride the full momentum wave without worrying about the inevitable big correction. I didn’t start hedging like this until I was already up about 25% on my shares. Currently up about 45% on them. This mainly works bc I’m trading a volatile asset on a shorter timeframe. Silver is having huge moves so it doesn’t take long for it to go up 5% (on Friday it went up 9% in a single session lol), meaning the put option doesn’t have much time to decay.

I thought full porting into LEAPS on a well positioned growth stock like MU would give me explosive gains, only to be beaten by SLV. Fuck my stupid chungus life

I thinks it’s going to go beyond what it’s at now, but as the other guy said, I feel likes it has to have some consolidation soon. I took my profits at $70, I’ll happily get back into SLV, but the risk/reward wasn’t quite right for me to hang on for now.
