Which nicely brings me to defending my analogy (and also educating you a bit) which is, that no economist would disagree with the general statement that a significant and rather sudden drop in M2 would indicate a rapid contraction in liquidity and that it could potentially stress the system in an uncontrolled. I mention the FED balance sheet to put the amount of US dollars that suddenly vaporized into perspective. What would a 2 trillion dollar rather sudden drop in their balance sheet do? Those trillions of vaporized dollars will reveal themselves somewhere unless them $$$$ unvaporize before that collateral is marked to market. Isn't going to happen in a day. Will take some real time before the gig is up. Stretch your brain and think about what the real root cause of $SVB failing. It was nothing more than rates being higher for longer and not marking their long dated treasuries to market. And it only happened at all because they had stupid customers, but that WAS a real bank failure and it had real effects and it required a pretty crafty stick save to save a minor catastrophe. And compared to the market cap of corn, that is being used this very minute as collateral on some loan somewhere, $SVB was nothing. Bulls should be praying for corn to not just stabilize, but get safely back to atleast the 90ks. TL/dr: He is wrong. I am right. Plus I am very buzzed!
