Imagine the kind of market we are in if PPT has to step in and prop the market literally -1% off the ATH. Blowing a prop account is less of a kick in the nuts than losing the actual position in live trading. I think they're worth it for apprentice traders who have some experience with demos and want to try their hand at making a buck, or traders with a very consistent strategy with smaller brackets and r:r ratios. There are a few very reputable prop firms out there that pay out consistently, and while it adds a layer of complexity to your trading, your downside is relatively limited and whatever you may lose from blowing accounts you can chalk up as cost of training. Check out which ones have good reviews, payout rules and pricing. I think If you can trade well in a prop firm you can trade well with your own money so it's a very good stepping stone if you're serious about trading.
