**Warning: Autism Ahead** Ouster OS1 [Link](https://www.soyrobotics.com/news/shownews.php?id=200&lang=en) is the **first high-resolution 3D lidar sensor approved under the Blue UAS Framework**, meaning it's currently the **only **NDAA-compliant 3D LiDAR option for defense drones. \--- **TL;DR**: Ondas Holdings ($ONDS) just won a contract to deploy "thousands of drones" for border protection. They deliberately hide their supply chain. I dug through SEC filings and specs. For NDAA-compliant 3D LiDAR, there's exactly one approved option: Ouster ($OUST). \--- **The** **Catalyst** (**today**) Ondas announced they won a strategic government tender as prime contractor for an autonomous border protection system. Key details: \- Multi-year program deploying thousands of drones \- Initial purchase order expected January 2026 \- Beat major defense primes in competitive evaluation \- Includes persistent (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaisance (there's a fancy banned acronym WSB thinks is a low market cap ticker)), swarm deployment, and autonomous threat detection \--- The Supply Chain Problem Ondas runs one of the most opaque supply chains I've seen in a public company. Their 10-K explicitly acknowledges "sole source suppliers" for hardware components but names zero vendors. No LiDAR supplier. No semiconductor partner. No IMU source. Nothing. Why? Defense contracts require NDAA compliance, and loose lips sink ships (or drone programs). \--- The Spec Sheet But they do publish specifications. The Optimus System (their flagship autonomous drone) includes LiDAR with: \- 394-foot range \- 300,000 points per square meter \- 1cm accuracy That's industrial-grade 3D LiDAR. Not some hobby sensor. \--- The Chokepoint Here's where it gets interesting. The DoD runs the Blue UAS Framework; an approved list of NDAA-compliant drone components. If you want government contracts, you need Blue UAS approved parts. Ouster OS1 is the first and only high-resolution 3D LiDAR sensor on the Blue UAS approved list. Read that again. For any defense drone program requiring 3D LiDAR and NDAA compliance, Ouster is currently the only game in town. \--- The Math \- "Thousands of drones" = let's conservatively say 2,000-5,000 units \- Industrial LiDAR sensors run $1,000-2,500 per unit \- That's $2M-$12.5M in sensor revenue for Ouster from this single contract \- Ouster did $33M revenue last quarter This is potentially 10-40% of a quarter's revenue from one customer relationship nobody's talking about. \--- Why the Market Hasn't Connected This 1. Ondas intentionally obscures their supply chain 2. No analyst coverage mentions Ouster as a supplier 3. The Blue UAS approval only happened in June 2025 4. NDAA compliance deadline isn't until June 2026, so most haven't focused on the chokepoint yet \--- Risks \- This is inference, not confirmed.
