what's going on with the VIX and most importantly VIX futures? S&P is down almost 1% with major tech companies that drove the bull market until now non-stop selling. This is all ahead of a key BOJ decision to hike rates, inflation report coming out tmw which will most likely continue to signal stubborn inflation, and then you have general geopolitical risk and civil unrest everywhere. Yet, the VIX is a mere 5% up today still below 17.5 and having difficulties even holding that. Anyone have an opinion on this? Is this an indication that the market does not see a real threat from any of the risks on the horizon meaning, or is it the opposite that people are not properly hedged and we are on the cliff of a lot of people being potentially caught off guard and mispositioned?

Korea Zinc, which bought a 5% stake in $TMC (The Metals Company) on June, said  it plans to build a smelter to produce key metals and minerals in the United States in a project that would cost $7.4 billion. This comes as the Trump administration is seeking to decouple their dependency on China for rare earth minerals. "Andrangi argues that even in the best-case scenario, where demand for computing power continues to expand, Coreweave will struggle to make enough money to recoup the upfront costs of building the data centres, let alone make a decent return on investors’ money. If demand falters, the hardware becomes obsolete more quickly than planned, or firms start building their own data centres, then Coreweave could be in serious trouble, especially as it has taken on huge debts to finance its investment. Other red flags include the fact that the key insiders have started selling their shares in the company."

Its rising lack of affordability in goods and housing and transportation. Its the rising economic giant that is China abroad. That was not the case back then.
