The downward pressure at the moment seems artificial but very effective nonetheless. But it dropped too hard, too fast not to have a bounce back some time soon. Playing with near expiration calls will be a big risk but this seems an opportunity to make some plays on longer dated ones. All indicators point at gld being oversold right now, although not extremely so, my best guess is that it will stay choppy for at least a few days before climbing back up again. Unless we get a good catalyst soon

Finally, I seem to have figured all out. 1) I'm always too late, so I buy the stock and sell it for a reasonable profit, 2) then I short THE FUCK OUT OF THIS STOCK. GLD is the prime example of it.
