ELI-stupid please. :) Looking at the chart over any length of time compared to SLV for AGQ or GLD for UGL, it has outperformed the metal ETFs.

They are 2X longs, I bet alot of people have them especially because of how bullish SLV and GLD are. But, its 2x loss, so more volatile. If the SLV impending crash kicks in, you can really bite the bullet.

Just found out about AGQ and UGL. Why not buy that instead of SLV and GLD? Can someone educate me?

Who knows? Nothing is ever exactly the same/ just rhymes, that’s the historical take…Bull runs on precious metals tend to last years. It’s confirmed a bull run when GLD consistently outperforms a typical 60/40 portfolio. Once that happens ( which it hasn’t yet) the run usually goes for 3-4 yrs.

I don't know if we are at the euphoria stage again, recent taco probably fueled the rally even more, and I guess it was kinda justified. however, gld went up about 30% in the first 8months of last year, it's now up 40% since September, overall 80% 1y but it's currently +15% ytd, it's kinda crazy honestly

yes but GLD is very volatile right now, sell ALL us stonks to full port it might be kinda regarded, you are asking to get rug pulled at some point, same thing for SLV not that it's a bad asset to buy, but I remember October GLD price made the news everywhere, "people lining up at stores / Costco to buy gold, omg gold" I immediately exit out all gold eow, guess what happened literally Monday, worst single day since 2020 it's still up 10% from October highs, not that it's a bad asset to hold long term, I am also bullish on it

then the trend changes and GLD goes down 10% in a day almost what happened back in october

How high should I greed my gld leaps. I was thinking of taking half off the table to cover my initial cost at 500 then just letting them ride til they expire. Gold 6k by eoy.

My last trade to close out 2025 was buying 15 contracts of silver at 55 strike and expiring on 01/21/28 and 10 contracts of GLD at the 500 strike, expiring on 01/21/28. I sold both those contract on Jan 2 for 3k gains combined because I wanted to start off 2026 with a win. Those two positions right now would have been over 67k in profit right now if I held, and probably even more by Monday open.......

I thought the head lines were exaggerating about the decline of the dollar. I then looked at SLV and GLD. What that tells me is ...... fuck. 2 meals a day are going to be 1 meal every other day.

If a lot of foreign institutions have been dumping treasuries and buying GLD and SLV it could be awhile….. I truly have no idea but it’s been a steady slow creep up which seems to signal more long term holders have bought in
