Burry says it's the "Time of year to find great companies being sold down too far as a result of window dressing and tax-loss harvesting"
Michael Burry of "The Big Short" fame closed his hedge fund to outside cash this month, saying he felt "muzzled" by SEC rules and wanted to speak freelyΒ via his new Substack, fittingly titled "Cassandra Unchained." "You know I own and like LULU, MOH, FOUR," Burry wrote in a Wednesday post. "Also FNMA, but as a pink sheet stock, it was never disclosed. These are all 3-5 year holds minimum. I will write each of these up as well as others in future posts. The 2-12B market cap range is the most fertile area as I see it today." Even with rate cuts, weβre gonna slide into 2026 in a neutral market. I think weβre in for a flat top and fall. Even if the Fed cuts rates, too much speculation on unemployment and the liquidity of the large banks. Overnight transfer funds are being squeezed of their liquidity and the big banks wonβt last forever with no tangible assets to further fund accounts. If the Fed ends quantitative tightening, and gives out the reserves they have to the banks after the rate cuts, the Fed loses liquidity and therefore brings rates right back up. I think the fed is going to end QT and then sit on their money, and thus draining the banking system of its entire liquidity. Also should question commercial real estate as well, which tons of these banks hold the lease to. Rates arenβt the same as they were 8 years ago and they are maturing, will need redone, and most will default due to vacancy, bankruptcy, and just less jobs overall. Not looking good for big banking at the moment, and thatβs not good for us as investors. I also think this tech bubble has everyone questioning the valuation of everything. Almost seems like every company follows the Mag 7 trend line, just not as aggressive. Itβs hard to say what would and could stay at its current pricing. Google is the only one looking good right now. Glad I got in at 286, and I plan to hold a good while.

I have somehow guessed up or down perfectly for 1 week straight. I went from $500 -> $15,500 in 2 weeks with $2500 of it already moved to my bank account. I plan on selling all my short dated stuff tomorrow and fully fund my emergency fund. Will leave my 3/20 $170 MSTR call and 2/29 $170 NVDA calls open - Everything else is getting sold at market open. I might make a full post about this one, it still doesn't feel real.

Well yea thats because they wanted to make a short squeeze on the last big tech name they hadnt AI squeezed yet. The bubble was popping ahead of schedule, they had to get the emergency Buffet fund to pour billions into pumping Goog to start their short squeeze. Notice how literally every single mag 7 has been claimed to be the AI leader in the past year at some point? First they said it was microsoft, then they said it was Amazon, then it was tesla, then it was meta and now we have Google as the leader. Wow, funny how that works!

Blew 31K in 3764 trades, basically paid full tuition for the University of WSB
So I decided to βtake trading seriouslyβ this year. By seriously, I mean I opened my app every morning, slammed buy/sell like it was a casino slot machine, and prayed to whatever deity handles degenerates. Fast-forward 12 months: π» 3,762 trades π» A beautiful downward chart arc that would make the Titanic jealous π» β$31,005.90 realized P/L π» 1.44% loss βSince 2024/2025,β but spiritually it feels like 144% At this point Iβm pretty sure my broker thinks Iβm running a hedge fund in my sleep. Meanwhile my portfolio looks like it got mugged behind a Wendyβs at 2am. I didnβt make moneyβ¦ I didnβt learn disciplineβ¦ But I DID learn that: β’ Limit orders are just suggestions β’ Green candles are government propaganda β’ And every time I said βone more trade,β God wrote βLMAOβ next to my name Anyway, hereβs my official diploma from the WSB School of Financial Mismanagement. Class of 2025. Majored in Market Regret. Minored in Hopium Studies. Enjoy my pain. I hope someone learns something from this, because it clearly wasnβt me.

Bears tomorrow in a job interview. βInterviewer: "I see a gap in your resume from 2020 to 2023. What were you doing?" βCandidate: "I was a fiercely independent risk manager for a boutique hedge fund managing private capital." βInterviewer: "You were gambling your student loans on puts in your underwear, weren't you?" βCandidate: "Yes. Now, when does my shift at the fry station start? I have margin calls to pay."

Lower rate allows small business to grow, because they donβt have access to cheap capital and need loans to borrow and fund. This keeps up employment. And an inflationary environment that is driven by trade, immigration, and fiscal policy isnβt going to be controlled by a rate hike, which for the most part only affects supply side.
