Trying to sanity-check GOOG valuation assumptions.
From a fundamentals standpoint, GOOG still looks fairly straightforward. You have a company with dominant market share in search, improving ad efficiency, durable YouTube monetization, and consistent free cash flow generation. Capital returns via buybacks are meaningful, and relative valuation versus MSFT/AAPL doesn’t suggest obvious excess. If you assume mid-teens earnings growth, modest multiple expansion, and continued share count reduction, it’s not unreasonable to think GOOG could revisit prior valuation bands. A move toward the low-$2,000s in the next year or two doesn’t require heroic assumptions — just execution and a stable macro backdrop. So far, nothing controversial. Where I get confused is when I try to identify the hard ceiling. Because once you get past the idea that search is “done growing” and assume AI just marginally improves monetization, you start backing into numbers that feel uncomfortable to say out loud. Like, if GOOG sniffed $2,300, that’s just math. If it drifted to $2,500, that’s probably sentiment Position: 200 long, very very long

Google owns: * Search (still prints) * YouTube (ads back, shorts monetizing) * Android (everyone uses it, nobody thinks about it) * AI infra (TPUs, Gemini, yada yada) They’re buying back shares like it’s their side quest and trade cheaper than MSFT/AAPL. Not saying $3000 or anything insane… …but if GOOG sniffed $2300–$2500 in the next year or two, would anyone really be shocked?
